Phacoemulsification Plays Its Unique Role in Various Fields

Mar 01, 2022

Phacoemulsification refers to a process in which two (or more than two) immiscible liquids are uniformly mixed to form a dispersion system under the action of ultrasonic energy, and one liquid is uniformly distributed in the other liquid to form an emulsion. Compared with the general emulsification process and equipment (such as propeller, colloid mill, homogenizer, etc.), ultrasonic emulsification has the characteristics of high emulsification quality, stable emulsification, stable emulsification product, and low power required.

Phacoemulsification has been used in many fields and plays a unique role in each field.

There are many industrialized phacoemulsification applications. Ultrasonic emulsification is one of the earliest technologies used in food processing. For example, soft drinks, ketchup, mayonnaise, jam, artificial milk, baby food, chocolate, salad oil, oil-sugar water, and other mixed foods used in the food industry have been tested and used at home and abroad, and have achieved improved The effect of product quality and production efficiency, and water-based carotene emulsification has been successfully tested and used in production.

The banana peel powder is pretreated by the physical modification method of ultrasonic dispersion combined with high-pressure cooking, and then the banana peel powder is enzymatically hydrolyzed with amylase. A single factor test was used to study the effect of this pretreatment method on the extraction rate of soluble dietary fiber in banana peel and the physical and chemical properties of insoluble dietary fiber in the banana peel. The water holding capacity of the insoluble dietary fiber obtained by enzyme treatment increased by 5.05g/g, the combined water capacity increased by 4.66g/g, the oil holding capacity increased by 4.60g/g, and the swelling property increased by 0.4mL/g.

In the pharmaceutical industry and the daily necessities industry sector, ultrasonic emulsification is often used in the manufacture of various emulsion products, such as emulsion medicines, cosmetics, and leather shoe polish. The emulsified combustion product of oil (gasoline, diesel, etc.) and water or pulverized coal can also be made by ultrasonic emulsification to improve the combustion value of unit fuel.
