Air bubbles form and collapse in the surrounding solution, generating shear waves and shock waves. The high local strength of the tool head means that the ultrasonic treatment process is more effective than in an ultrasonic water bath. This makes the ultrasonic homogenizer an ideal choice for reducing particle size and cell disruption. A small particle size can be achieved through a short processing time. Applications include disrupting suspended cells, emulsifying and dispersing nanoparticles.
